Our core values in action
Unique combination of core values
“Committed, enterprising, innovative, persevering, and sincere: for me, these core values form the foundation of Mourik’s success. What I find especially powerful is that they were not imposed top-down, but were brought up from within the organization itself. As a result, they feel authentic and are acknowledged throughout the workplace. For me, no value stands alone. They reinforce each other. Innovation, for example, almost always requires perseverance: trying new things rarely happens by itself. And entrepreneurship can become tough or purely result-driven, but at Mourik it remains people-oriented, thanks to the combination with commitment and sincerity. That is exactly why these values truly resonate with me; you can feel them throughout the entire organization.
Core values in practice
“Mourik is a good fit for me as a person. I also like to take initiative, tackle things, and solve problems. My colleagues say: ‘If we call Bart, he’ll take action.’ As a manager, I try to actively promote the company’s values and set a good example. For me, commitment is the foundation, by actively listening and staying close to people. From there, you can take action together, get things moving, and innovate. The project world is demanding and can be tough. That’s exactly why it’s so important for people to feel safe. Only then do they dare to innovate and persevere when things get tough. I feel that responsibility and I try to bring people along. Sincere and honest. As a people person, this is very important to me. And Mourik is the same: very people-oriented.
Moving forward together
We are making strong progress today for future generations. We realize great projects for clients who want to move forward, and our strategy gives clear direction to where we are evolving as an organization. But ultimately, everything depends on our people. How do we ensure that everyone continues to be part of that story? That question has been on my mind more and more lately. I approach this not only as a manager, but also as a (young) father. That perspective sharpens my awareness of our responsibility for tomorrow. The younger generation looks at work and quality of life differently than previous generations. That requires adaptation, a willingness to listen, and sometimes rethinking established patterns. I am still finding my way in that myself, but one thing is certain for me: it starts with leadership. And in that respect, my personal values align seamlessly with what is important to Mourik.
