Renovation Weirs & Locks
Renovation Weirs & Locks
Prolonging the Lifespan of Weirs and Locks
Numerous weirs, locks, bridges and other ‘wet’ structures were constructed in the 1950s and 1960s, with some even older. Over time, the use of these structures has changed, leading to increased wear and more frequent failures. Additionally, modern standards for reliability, availability and safety have evolved significantly since their initial construction. The upcoming years will see a significant challenge in renovating and possibly replacing these structures. At Mourik, we specialise in extending the lifespan of weirs, bridges and locks by several decades.
Comprehensive Expertise for Complex Renovations
Renovation projects often involve a multitude of disciplines, all of which we either possess ourselves or can access through established partnerships. The Mourik Group includes specialists in concrete, environmental management and the manufacture of steel components for weirs and locks, with our own dedicated facility in Limburg.
We have successfully completed numerous complex renovation projects in recent years, including the refurbishment of the Delden and Hengelo locks, the Linne weir and several weirs in the river Meuse. We also share our accumulated knowledge and experience with clients through innovative collaboration models, such as two-phase contracts and repair and renovation contracts.
Mourik boasts a long history of renovating and maintaining locks, weirs and bridges, both on a project basis and through multi-year contracts. Our ability to cover a wide range of disciplines in-house or through trusted partners enables us to offer our clients comprehensive support.
This includes technology solutions, surveys, inspections, calculations, risk analysis, design, project management, minimising disruptions and environmental management, all the way to the handover for maintenance and asset management. This comprehensive approach is what sets Mourik apart.
