Incident Reponse
Round-the-Clock Emergency Response
In the densely populated Netherlands with its many traffic movements, maintaining flow is crucial, and swift, efficient responses to emergencies are essential. Mourik responds to emergencies on the Dutch main road network on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat, the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management. We are ready 24/7, poised to act immediately when an incident occurs. Our support centres and switchboard operate around the clock—early morning, late evening or deep into the night—to ensure that Dutch roads are swiftly cleared and reopened.
Comprehensive Incident Management
Effective emergency response involves more than just rapid action; it requires cleaning up after emergencies and repairing any resulting damage while upholding a standard of quality. Mourik delivers this quality through our expertise and extensive experience. We have the knowledge and personnel and boast the necessary equipment to safely manage road closures, including collision absorbers and action vehicles such as arrow trailers and mobile message boards.
A unique aspect of our emergency services is the heat stress protocol for movable bridges. Under this protocol, we activate bridge cooling measures when temperatures exceed 30 degrees Celsius for two or more days in a row. Our teams are on standby 24/7 to ensure that transport across the Netherlands remains uninterrupted.
The emergencies we encounter are highly varied. Some can be resolved within an hour, while others demand a full 24-hour effort to ensure a road is completely safe again. Whether it's a contaminated road surface, collisions or a damaged guardrail, each incident is unique and requires our adaptability and a solution-focused approach. It's this challenge that adds to the rewarding nature of our work. Together, we aim to resolve emergencies as swiftly as possible.
