Mourik likes to get involved, both at work and outside of it. Our colleagues are committed to helping others in all kinds of ways. From sporting events to volunteer work: social involvement is deeply rooted in our organization. Dennis Scholte is one of our ambassadors and a driving force behind many initiatives. 

Charities, local initiatives and sporting events

At Mourik, we like to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Not only in the workplace, but also outside of it. Every year, our colleagues dedicate themselves to good causes, local initiatives and sporting events that benefit society, like the Roparun, Harbour Run, sponsorship events, Sinterklaas events and volunteer work. That commitment is engrained in our DNA. And Dennis Scholte is a good example of this. 

Dennis is our Process Improvement & Training manager. In his work, he ensures that colleagues are well trained and certified before they start working. Safety is paramount, which is why all colleagues who work in industrial cleaning have to refresh their knowledge every three to five years. In 2024, 150 employees were retrained, with a success rate of 96%. In addition, Dennis has also been committed to social causes for years. ‘The elderly who can no longer leave their homes, sick children - I am happy to dedicate myself to all of these causes. You can find me barbecuing for charity, for example.’

Connecting people and raising money

He also uses sports to connect colleagues and raise money. He has participated in boxing matches – as a personal challenge and fundraiser. And he organizes running training sessions at Mourik with the goal of running the Rotterdam Marathon together. ‘In 2024, 24 colleagues participated in the relay or duathlon. We started and finished as a team. It's great to contribute to something like this.’ 

Why does he do it? ‘I have received a lot in return in life. So it's always nice to give something back. This gives me energy and satisfaction.’ 

Dennis prefers to remain in the background, even as an ambassador. ‘I'm not the only one doing this. There are many other Mourik colleagues besides me who are equally committed, for example to the Roparun or local initiatives. People here like to contribute to good causes.’
