On 31 December 2025, Rudi Bogaerts will retire after a 28-year career with Mourik. As financial project officer, he leaves behind a rich experience in our industrial services department, as well as a vacancy open for a new colleague who wants to follow in his footsteps.

From a new challenge to 28 years with Mourik

When Rudi made the switch 28 years ago, he was actually looking for a simpler job with less responsibility. "That turned out a bit differently," he laughs. He deliberately chose a company that was financially sound and closer to home. Moreover, thanks to his education in accounting informatics and previous work experience in a similar position, he had the ideal background.

"In the beginning, there were fewer of us and everyone did just about everything. Now the tasks are much more subdivided and specialised," Rudi says. "What I also remember was that we used to work in a dated building with scarce incoming daylight, but fortunately this was soon adapted to a modern working environment."

Work today

As financial project officer, Rudi keeps an eye on the financial figures. He processes invoices, checks expenses and makes sure reports are ready on time. Especially the first days of the month are quite busy. "That's when invoices have to go out the door, figures have to be reported and expenses have to be closed. In contrast, the end of the month is often much quieter."

For Rudi, the biggest challenge of the last few months has been transferring his knowledge and experience. "It is important that my successor gets well settled in and can find his way around," he says. His message to whoever takes his place: "At Mourik, you get the chance to follow your own path."

"I started working at around the age of 20, now I look forward to enjoying my free time to the full. Now I can always tag along when friends plan something... when I don't have to babysit my grandchildren, of course."
