Jarle Bråthen: Prevention Adviser

Article

Health and Safety Advisor Jarle Bråthen joined Mourik’s health and safety team in 2024. Both on site and behind the scenes, he works hard every day to ensure safety, carry out risk assessments and conduct workplace inspections. What appeals to him most? The combination of variety, a hands-on approach and the family-like atmosphere within the company.

From freelance work to Mourik

In 2024, Jarle took the step towards becoming self-employed. He initially carried out assignments for other companies until he eventually joined Mourik. His first project took him to E.ON in Willebroek.

“I worked there full-time as a health and safety adviser on site. That gave me a good insight straight away into how Mourik operates,” says Jarle.

Once the project was over, he was asked if he’d like to join Nathalie, Benny and Patrick’s health and safety team. It was an opportunity he didn’t let slip by.
“It immediately felt like a great next step, offering more variety and new learning opportunities,” he adds.

Practical training programmes and variety

At Mourik, Jarle was given the opportunity to undertake various practical training courses, including asbestos removal and high-pressure supervisor training. Thanks to these courses, he was able to further expand his knowledge and his role within the company also grew.

“Those extra training courses help me to carry out my job more comprehensively and effectively. As a result, I am now able to carry out site visits across a wide range of sectors,” he explains.

His working day consists of a combination of administrative tasks and site visits. “I combine administrative work with being out on site. This involves carrying out risk assessments, conducting workplace inspections and carrying out safety rounds.”

These additional training courses help me to carry out my job more comprehensively and effectively.

“At Mourik, you really feel that personal atmosphere. Compared to the larger companies I’ve worked for before, there’s much more of a sense of involvement here and you really feel part of the team.”
In short, together with his colleagues, Jarle works hard every day to ensure a safe working environment at Mourik’s various sites. “You’re given opportunities to grow here, and you can feel that people support one another. For me, that really makes all the difference,” he concludes.
