I am Janice and I work with great enthusiasm as a site manager at Mourik.
Every day I start early in the yard. The chain must be open and the coffee ready, because a good start is important. I spend as much time as possible on site, asking questions and observing. This gives me valuable insights that you don't get in any training.
With a background in structural engineering, specifically concrete, the real learning curve for me is still practice. On site, I learn things from experienced colleagues that no training can offer. Being social, listening and clear communication are essential in this job.
Before joining Mourik, I worked in another sector, but I felt it was time for a new challenge. Choosing to work as a site manager gave me the opportunity to keep learning and developing.
My advice for those who are new here or consider moving in this direction: listen to those with experience. Giving and receiving respect is the key to success in this role.
