What is it actually like to work at Mourik? We put this question to our own Mourik people. To be more precise: a colleague who could use some help and may be expanding his team.

This time we speak to Dirk Vanstraelen. Dirk is 56 years old and has been happily married for 34 years. He lives with his wife in Haspengouw and has two grown-up children, a daughter aged 32 and a son aged 28 .

With an impressive track record of 31 years elsewhere in the industry, Dirk found his way to Mourik three years ago through a former colleague. What began as an informal conversation grew into the establishment of a new branch within Mourik Belgium: Mourik Technics. Dirk Vanstraelen is at the helm of this new company as managing director.

Mourik Technics

Mourik Technics specialises in making buildings in Belgium more sustainable by installing technical and smart installations. In other words, Mourik Technics provides heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) for buildings in various sectors, including industry, healthcare, leisure, offices and schools. Dirk: "We have provided hotels, laboratories and office buildings with state-of-the-art solutions to make buildings more sustainable. Now that the energy transition in Belgium is well underway, Mourik Technics is growing, and we are looking for qualified staff. Since this year, we have also started a maintenance department, so that we can also relieve the customer after completion ."

"We are looking for new colleagues who want to help build this new department. We have vacancies for a foreman, maintenance technician and mechanic. We are looking for people with a passion for technology, who are driven to learn, share knowledge and grow. We have an open working atmosphere, where respect and cooperation are paramount,"  Dirk says.

An entrepreneurial vision

Why Dirk chose to work at Mourik after 31 years elsewhere? "What appeals to me at Mourik is the room for entrepreneurship. Starting up Mourik Technics was fully supported. If you have a good plan, you get the confidence and opportunity to implement your new idea." Thus Mourik Technics has now grown into a team of 45 people. Dirk continues: "As a young company, we have already managed to realise major projects and have been allowed to help companies become more sustainable. I am proud of that."

The best thing about working at Mourik Technics? Dirk: "Independence and personal development are always encouraged. You work on projects where you can really make a difference. Later, you look back and think, 'Wow, I helped build that.'"
