Colleague in the spotlight

Evelien Liebert: work preparator

Article

Since 2024, Evelien Liebert has been strengthening our team as a work preparator in the environmental department. On paper, this may seem like an administrative position, but in practice, Evelien juggles a remarkable number of tasks, both literally and figuratively. In addition to her work at Mourik, she also runs her own event and balloon company.

Much more than a work preparator

As a work preparator, Evelien supports the environmental department in various areas. "I help with the administration, draw up progress reports for long-term projects, interpretate laboratory results and actively contribute ideas for solutions," she says.

Evelien is also a real mood maker in the department. Having lunch together, organizing colleague outings and ensuring a pleasant working atmosphere? She doesn't let that pass her by.

Evelien had already made a beautiful balloon arch for Mourik.

Balloon creations with meaning

Balloon arches, pillars, figures, gift balloons: Evelien makes them for weddings, gender reveal parties, street parties, shop openings and birthdays. But the most special creations are those with a personal story.

"A gift balloon for a boy who wanted to thank his mum because she helped him escape the poverty cycle, that sticks with me. Money, flowers and small balloons together. A gesture like that is really touching."  Her biggest project to date? The reopening of a shopping street, with 26 golden pillars and around 4,000 balloons. "Actually, that job was too big for me alone, but hey... I work at Mourik, right? So I just did it."

Het leuke is dat je van iets heel kleins iets heel moois maakt. Het is creatief, maar ook technisch. Je moet nadenken over constructies, stabiliteit en wind. Dat puzzelen vind ik fantastisch.

Her passion does not go unnoticed at work either. "When it's someone's birthday, there are balloons hanging from their office chair," laughs Evelien. Sometimes she gets questions about sustainability, but she has a clear answer: her balloons are 100% biodegradable.
